The Uthong seated Buddha on a lotus base with serrated edges, from the Maheyong Temple in Ayutthaya Province, is believed to date back to approximately the 21st-22nd Buddhist centuries. Made of silver-tin alloy, it is in beautiful condition with clear facial features and its original surface intact, showing no breaks or repairs. This is considered an ancient Ayutthaya amulet, over 400 years old, similar to the famous Phra Prunang amulets of Ayutthaya, which are found in a silver-tin alloy mixed with lead . ## Wat Maheyong is an important ancient temple in the eastern part of the old city island. Currently a ruined temple, it is located in Han Tra Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District. According to history, the temple was built during the reign of King Borommarachathirat II (Chao Sam Phraya) in 1981 BE (1438 CE). Its architecture is Sri Lankan, featuring a bell-shaped main pagoda surrounded by elephants on its base, and smaller bell-shaped pagodas . ## Chronicles mention that during the siege of Ayutthaya in 2112 BE (1569 CE), the King of Hongsawadi established his royal command post at Wat Maheyong for nine months. The amulets found at Wat Maheyong are of the Uthong style. There are both seated and standing Buddha images, made of silver alloy and silver alloy mixed with lead, similar to many amulets from ancient Ayutthaya temples such as Wat Ratchaburana.
